Saleh Mamman, Ex-Power Minister Remanded in Kuje Prison over N33bn Fraud

According to a report, the Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, has ordered the remand of former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, in Kuje prison pending the consideration of his bail application. Mamman pleaded not guilty to a 12-count money laundering charge preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The EFCC alleges that Mamman committed money laundering offences to the tune of N33 billion. He served as Minister of Power from 2019 to 2021 under former President Muhammadu Buhari. Mamman was arrested and detained by the EFCC in May 2021.

Justice James Omotosho issued the remand order on Thursday after Mamman’s arraignment was resumed. The consideration of Mamman’s bail application has been adjourned to a later date.
